Biography
Dr. Chris Urban, M.D.
Dr. Chris Urban is a fellowship trained spine surgeon at Bay Area Orthopaedics. He has clinical expertise in treating a wide variety of adult and pediatric spinal disorders. This includes complex deformity such as, scoliosis, kyphosis, and spondylolesthesis. He also enjoys caring for patients with cervical or lumbar disc herniations, degenerative spinal conditions, and traumatic injuries of the lower back and neck. Other areas of focus include minimally invasive spine surgery and microdiscectomy.
Dr. Urban has a passion for treating the individual patient and helping them to achieve the best possible recovery. He and his spine care team utilize a wide array of advanced surgical and non-surgical treatments. Dr Urban believes in patient education of their spinal problem, so that they can play a more active role in their decision-making and treatment process. This leads to a much quicker and more optimal level of healing and recovery. He and the other physicians at Bay Area Orthopaedics have the ultimate goal of making each patient well.
Dr. Urban attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College, where he was part of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed his orthopaedic surgical training at Duke University and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and The Piedmont Orthopaedic Society. After residency he further developed his interest by completing a fellowship focusing on Spine Surgery. This training allowed him to gain expertise in state of the art orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine techniques. He is devoted to his patients and to their well being.
